Slot Car Magic

The conditions were hot and humid last Saturday at Rotogrip Raceway where race # 5 of the Porsche 911 GT3R series was held.Eleven racers were on hand to fight it out for the 10 points that were at stake. With the weather conditions the way they were, each driver had to be at there peak both mentally and physically.

Two round robin heats were run to determine who would move on to the final four. In the end it was Lenard, Kim, Phil, and Jack advancing to the semi finals. Jack just edged out Steve by 1/2 lap to advance. During the first heat Phil had to overcome another car somehow making its way onto his lane at the start that slowed him down. Than in the second heat a marshals hand obstructed Phil's lane which caused another delay in his time. This was not the end of the strange occurrences that plagued Phil during the day. In the semi final round a piece of fence from the raceway found its way onto Phil's lane causing him to crash and lose valuable time, which cost him a spot in the finals. Phil was asked for a comment on the strange happenings, "Only at Rotogrip Raceway" was his response.

The finals pitted Lenard vs. Kim, two of the best drivers around. The race was neck and neck until with 30 seconds left Kim caught an edge going around a hairpin curve and spun out, allowing Lenard to pass him and never look back.
